A Picture Speaks…

Remember those old propaganda posters from the WWII? My favourite phrase from those was ‘Loose Lips Sink Ships’ (that’s not the only thing loose lips do). It’s such a shame nobody produces those posters anymore… well, that’s not entirely true. Micah Wright has a keenly tuned political voice and reworks old propaganda posters with current day issues.

Check out the full collection of posters here (or via Neatorama). If you really like what you see, you can also buy Micah’s work on t-shirts, coffee mugs or just as framed prints here.

Shameless Self Promotion!

Using the publicity machine that is the BEEZHOUSE.com, here goes with a piece of shameless self promotion!

From Idle Thoughts Of A DayDreamer:

In a vast expansion of the Idle Thoughts Of A DayDreamer media empire, I’ve launched a radio station! It will play the songs that I love and listen to, and is online and available 24/7. The station will play all my favourites such as The Beatles, Radiohead and Coldplay, as well as many more varied artists across all genres. To get a better idea of potential playlists, check out my user page on last.fm and view the ‘Top Artists’ and ‘Top Songs’ rankings. A number of playlists are available on the station… the featured stations are listed on the left hand side. To start listening, just sign up with last.fm (it’s free) and away you go! Check it out… and happy listening!

Idle Thoughts radio is available here.

Bandwagon Australia

November 16th, 2005. 32 years of pain and agony were wiped away with one goal and a penalty shootout. What has ensued since has been increasingly rabid support of all things soccer. As if out of nowhere, ‘wogball’ has gained acceptance within a country long sceptical of a game that didn’t have a red ball. Cinderella is going to the ball and all the mice want to ride the coach.

Admittedly, soccer has always been the domain of the European migrant communities throughout Australia. Real aussie kids played football (how can two sports have the same name?) and if you couldn’t pick the ball up with your hands, you left it to the ‘dagoes’. AFL was seared into the national identity through suburban colisseums and, later, the giants of free-to-air television. (more…)
