Browser Wars

If you are a regular reader of this blog, you may have noticed that the beezhouse strongly supports Mozilla Firefox. I am led to believe that the site has been optimised to suit the Mozilla browser. In fact if you are running IE now, this site probably looks all fucked up! Thanks Oz for the super size picture!
Anyway back to my point, we all know that the release of Vista has long been talked about by Microsoft, apparently with the release of Vista and Internet Explorer 7, the MS user will be able to do a whole heap more. The date is coming closer but unsurprisingly, we Firefox users have been running the supposed new functions for years. I found another example today of Firefox continuing their rampage in what Wikipedia terms the “Browser Wars.”
Its safe to say that most users (at least those loyal to MS) refer to Internet Explorer 7 as IE7. Whats more, the good people over at MS also use the same terminology. Its not surprising than that some responsible party went ahead an purchased the url: ie7.com and posted a whole heap of information on it for the common good of the savvy users. The problem however, is that the information being posted on this site is probably not the marketing message MS had in mind. I may be wrong, but you be your own judge. Check out IE7 here.
I recall that when we started the beezhouse journey, our domain name cost us no more than half a case of VB Asahi.
Dumbass!

Something you might find interesting rgarding the browser stats for our site (these come courtesy of our system administrator):
36.8% of all hits are using MIE 6.0 (not even IE 7.0 - how disappointing)
50.9% taken by Firefox (mostly 1.5.0.4 and above, though there is a mysterious Firefox 3.0 out there?!?)
12% attributed to ‘others’…
2. What Does Your Browser Say About You? - beezhouse.com | August 22nd, 2006 at 00:53
[...] August The DayDreamer11:50 pmAdd comment At the moment, the DayDreamer’s girlfriend is currently off in New Zealand. She works in IT and is currently at Microsoft’s TechEd in Auckland. (Think of Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference just held in San Fran and you get the picture). Now the company she works for is… well… loved… by Microsoft. Now it seems that the product that they produce will only work effectively with IE. Using Firefox. Why? Have a Mac? Forget about it! It seems that ‘corporates’ only use and are interested in IE. Now before I go on… settle down BGE! Your rant will probably come from the same direction that mine did! I was told that in the “real world”… I think this is code for men in suits, the only people that matter?!?…, that people only cared about IE. Corporate Barbie indeed! Now regular readers of all our blogs will know of our collective disgust at Microsoft and their products. Whether it be on Idle Thoughts, in the Carpark, over at Brand Kudos or indeed in the BEEZHOUSE, we haven’t been shy about launching into the giant from Redmond. [...]

[...] October Oz10:33 pmAdd comment We’ve established by now that I am a long-time Macintosh user. As a result, my experiences with Microsoft products have been fleeting and mostly limited to either Word or Excel. Internet Explorer? Just like most US politicians and marijuana, I tried it once but wasn’t really into it. Like the artist formerly known as the Goat, not to mention our very own social idealist currently in exile, I have strong views regarding my browser experience. Dad, if you’re reading this, download Firefox NOW. [...]
