On Apple’s self confidence

Apple Ad

Branding and marketing moves very quickly these days. Just check the Queen bee’s last post on Flash Beer and Boony. Apparently the Flash Beer commercial got over 40,000 hits in the first few hours it was unleashed online. Unbelievable! This lead me to another advertising campaign I’m very fond of.

It just so happened I was wondering around town today again in one of my “should I or shouldn’t I” moods. I’ve been contemplating buying a new Mac for sometime now and while it’s only a matter of time, I watched the Mac TV commercial in the Mac store and noticed something I had previously missed ignored.

If you don’t know which campaign I am talking about, it’s the one that features a typical, dorky, chino wearing guy – The PC and a noticeably younger, relatively laid back, creative wannabe – The Mac, both arguing with each other who is better etc etc. (Pictured above) (more…)

High Expectations

September

Once upon a time I was telling the Daydreamer my theory on why it is the civic responsibility of upper socio-economic classes to crush the dreams of the lower classes. Interesting theory, and highly controversial. Sadly, it seems the Department of Child Safety (DOCS) shares the same view.

The plight of the Aboriginal community is well documented within this country and their troubles regularly make front page news. From chroming and drug addiction through to unemployment and gang violence, Aboriginal youths in Australia don’t appear to have much hope, especially in the more remote locations of our wide brown land.

You’d think it to be a blessing that a child from a disadvantaged backgroung would be fostered by a middle class couple. A stable environment for personal growth, better access to proper eductaional facilities, even a basic three meals per day. Oh, and a loving, caring environment. All a growing child could need. Would it be unrealistic to hope that in this environment, the child may stand a very good chance of going to university and thus bettering her situation? According to DOCS, the answer is an unequivocal ‘yes’. When asked about their attitudes towards drugs, the couple made it clear drugs were unacceptable in their household. The DOCS response? Perhaps their expectations were too high.

I find it ridiculous that a government agency in the supposed ‘lucky country’ could view higher education (and a standard of living above the poverty line) as a privelige, not a right. But can it truly be a surprise when we have politicians recommending an aussie values test for all visitors to Australia, not just immigrants? Welcome to Australia - make sure you bring your racism in your carry-on luggage.

The Power Of Beer!

Here in the BEEZHOUSE.com, we all love beer. Almost as much as that, we love a good beer promotion. Now, we all know that Boony is back (and he’s brought a mate along for the ride… for more details check out the Carpark at Accure).

This however is something else. It is the followup to Carlton Draught’s Big Ad, which can be viewed and/or downloaded here. (Will require QuickTime to view). The new mini movie/TVC is called Flash Beer. Awesome. Remember kids, follow your dreams… they CAN come true!

Carlton Draught
BTW… those who are proud owners of a Boony may want to check this out… Pimp My Boony… enough said really!

View the Flash Beer mini movie/TVC here.

Thanks to crew over at Accure for the heads-up!
