It’s rare for me to find a bank promotion exciting. I like to think I’m not easily swayed by gimmickry but I can’t help but be fascinated by ANZ’s current campaign. For years credit card companies have been threatening license-style photos as an increased security measure for their products. ANZ’s promotion has absolutely nothing to do with security - maybe they’re trying to put a little bit of personality back into banking. Perhaps that’s the reason for my interest.
What’s the deal? Quite simply, put a picture of your choice on your brand spanking new ANZ Visa card. Want to look at your cat every time you make a purcahse? Do it. Maybe you’re not a cat person and want to see your girlfriend/partner/wife/manfriend’s face instead? Do it. Perhaps you want to show off your car to that cute sales assistant but rather than finding some lame reason to pull out your car keys, just pull out your credit card that has your pride and joy on it. Do it.

As to be expected, there are certain guidelines that need to be adhered to though I find the URL restriction disappointing - I was really looking forward to having my very own beezhouse.com Visa. What about the Bin Laden Visa? Does that get struck out on the celebrity clause or because he’s a public figure? I know that personalised credit cards aren’t a new idea - many times I though about applying for a MasterCard in the US just so I could have a Montreal Canadiens card.
All the same, I encourage everyone to have a play with this online tool. Get creative and get crazy, beezhouse style. Make a card and send us a copy of it - I know I’d love to see what you guys would want on your card. Send your cards to ozATbeezhouseDOTcom.
