A little while ago I mentioned Fluid and while amazing, had found no real purpose to it. Courtesy of constant connection time-outs with Twitterrific, I have decided to point Fluid at the best web interface for Twitter: Hahlo. When I’m around town and logged into wifi on the Touch, Hahlo is my choice for tweeting.

As you can see from the screenshots, the layout and interface are just awesome. What I love is the menu. A completely customised view of your Twitterverse is only a click away. And now, all happily located on my desktop for when I can’t be bothered dealing with the Touch’s smaller screen.

There are a lot of customers with whom I have shared a relationship at my work for the last seven years. One such customer was kind enough to bring me some reading material last Thursday, complete with his own observations. Needless to say, I loved the thought. He raises a very convincing argument.

The thing that gets me is the highlighted disclaimer (I know you can’t read it, that’s why there’s a larger image). As if Starbucks are going to run out of coffee. ‘While stocks last’?

I never got into Facebook. Try as my friends might, I just wasn’t interested in it because IT SUCKS. My only interest in MySpace has been the language that has grown out of it, and for some reason I have a soft spot for lolcat pictures.

* Quick digression: lolcat has become an area of increased interest for me. I first noticed it when ‘teh’ started popping up everywhere I went, the we started replacing the letter ‘y’ with ‘eh’. I’m not 14 so I didn’t really understand what was going on, though ‘teh’ is one of the most common mis-typings you see on the net. I don’t have all day to stuff around with my profile page, nor do I want to read delete hundreds of emails about this person roundhousing that person while so-and-so throws a turd at such-and-such. That’s why I like Twitter. 140 characters to talk about whatever has your attention right at that point in time. Do it once a day, once a week or twenty times a day (as some people seem able to do). I follow 14 people (six of whom rarely update) and receive no email updates because they’re all contained within whatever client you choose to tweet in (and if you really want email notifications, you can tell Twitter to do so). Key information, minimum fuss.

Which brings me to BrightKite, location based twittering. Currently in public beta (read: we’ll invite you when we want to), the whole concept looks quite exciting. While it seems the mobile capability is limited to the USA (and limited carriers) right now, in all truth you’re just a free wifi hotspot away from tweeting WITH your location as well. Of course, an iPhone launch in Australia and some competitive mobile data plans would go a long way to seeing me tweet whenever and wherever I am. Being able to bring location (through Google Maps), pictures and tweets (tagged to location) into one service goes a long way to allowing users the opportunity to properly connect with one another. ‘Cos remember, it’s all about interaction.
