Who Put On Weight This Year?

28

December

You don’t need to be a surgeon general to know that fat inactive kids make fat inactive adults creating a burden for the rest of us and the public medical system.

Beside that, who wants half of the population to be unhealthy and unhappy? It’s funny to watch fat people struggle up stairs and take up two seats on a train, but at times it’s inconvenient and sometimes I want to slap that cheeseburger or bucket of chips out of their chubby hands.

It’s rare for me to find a bank promotion exciting. I like to think I’m not easily swayed by gimmickry but I can’t help but be fascinated by ANZ’s current campaign. For years credit card companies have been threatening license-style photos as an increased security measure for their products. ANZ’s promotion has absolutely nothing to do with security - maybe they’re trying to put a little bit of personality back into banking. Perhaps that’s the reason for my interest.

What’s the deal? Quite simply, put a picture of your choice on your brand spanking new ANZ Visa card. Want to look at your cat every time you make a purcahse? Do it. Maybe you’re not a cat person and want to see your girlfriend/partner/wife/manfriend’s face instead? Do it. Perhaps you want to show off your car to that cute sales assistant but rather than finding some lame reason to pull out your car keys, just pull out your credit card that has your pride and joy on it. Do it.

It just so happened I was wondering around town today again in one of my “should I or shouldn’t I” moods. I’ve been contemplating buying a new Mac for sometime now and while it’s only a matter of time, I watched the Mac TV commercial in the Mac store and noticed something I had previously missed ignored.

If you don’t know which campaign I am talking about, it’s the one that features a typical, dorky, chino wearing guy – The PC and a noticeably younger, relatively laid back, creative wannabe – The Mac, both arguing with each other who is better etc etc. (Pictured above) (more…)
